I have never laughed so hard at a wedding reception as I did at Jon and Ashley’s wedding. I’ve heard a lot of toasts over the years, but never have I seen anything crafted as well as the best man’s speech.
He wrote a ‘book’ on Jon’s life and how he and Ashley came together. Everyone in the room was crying from laughing, but also so moved by the heartfelt words he shared about both Jon and Ashley!
I have really enjoyed the time I have been able to spend with Jon and Ashley while being their photographer. Ashley is currently in an extremely intensive nursing program, and it seems as though she will be the most amazing nurse. Her father spoke of her dedication and compassion and how well those skills will serve her as a nurse. Her maid of honor spoke of her kindness, and I can attest to this in the short time I have known her. After our engagement session I received one of the kindest letters of appreciation. She had handmade the card with such beautiful watercolors and lettering. When I walked into the reception hall I noticed she had painted each guest seat assignment! She is so incredibly talented, and I loved that she used her gifts to make so many things for her reception.
Jon is a cofounder over at Brightlamp which is developing an app that uses phones to help detect concussions. They say, “The goal is to bring healthcare into the hands of everyday people by allowing them access to simplistic diagnostic services for a fraction of today’s costs.”
I love this so much! I grew up in a small African village and my parents are still working in healthcare there. There is less than 1 doctor for every 10,000 people in the Central African Republic, and so little opportunity to receive treatment for even the simplest medical issues. My heart breaks for people whose lives can be changed by things I take for granted everyday. What Jon and his team are doing is so encouraging. Their app and ideas are such a part of the changing future, and give me hope for more opportunities in places with little medical care!
Jon and Ashley THANK YOU for allowing me to be apart of your lives in this special way. I feel so honored with I was invited into your lives, and I know that I will continue to be blessed by knowing you. I had such a wonderful time hanging out with you and your bridal party. I know you have big plans to travel just like Paul and I. I hope to one day run into you while we are on one of our adventures!
